Scarlett the one who gave life to SOS Bull Terrier Canada

Written by the founder of SOS Bull Terrier Canada

Scarlett was rescued from a puppy mill seizure in Rawdon in 2008, carried out by the Montreal SPCA. She was so terrified that she wouldn’t even walk with the volunteers who were taking the dogs outside.

At the time, I was cleaning her cage… and that’s when I fell in love with this little soul. That day, without even realizing it, I met the dog of my life.

Three years later, we moved to Quebec City. While her adoptive dad was on a mission in Afghanistan, I had the brilliant (or maybe slightly crazy!) idea to start SOS Bull Terrier Québec, as several colleagues were already asking me for help with placing and evaluating dogs.

Then, in 2016, we changed the name to SOS Bull Terrier Canada — a small nod to everything that was happening in Quebec City at the time with Denis Coderre. From that moment on, the rescue quite literally took off across Canada.

Without ever seeking it, Scarlett became the face of the rescue. She was an emotional support dog for her adoptive dad when he returned from Afghanistan. She became the best friend of the children who later joined our family.

But most of all, Scarlett was loved by everyone who met her — children, seniors, dogs, cats… everyone.

In 2019, Scarlett passed away from cancer at the age of 14.

But her legacy lives on.
Because without Scarlett… SOS Bull Terrier simply wouldn’t exist. 🤍🐾

K2 Rescue Canada: the evolution of a growing mission

We are two women, united by the same passion: helping dogs who have no one left.

Over time, through SOS Bull Terrier Canada, we crossed paths with many German Shepherds and Rottweilers in need.
At first, they weren’t part of our original mission… but some cases deeply touched us.

One by one, they found their way into our hearts.

We quickly realized that they, too, were lacking resources, foster homes, and real solutions.

And it became obvious.

We decided to create an extension of SOS Bull Terrier Canada, expanding our efforts to include these two incredible breeds — with the same standards, the same passion, and the same unwavering commitment.

Because in the end… no matter the breed, every dog deserves a second chance. 🤍🐾
